From April 19-23, Equal Access Nepal, with partners International Alert and Youth Action Nepal, and radio stations Radio Madhyapaschim in Dang, Sanskar FM in Bara, and Popular FM in Sunsari, held a 5-day residential training program for 26 youth from all over the country.

The 26 youth were taught to produce radio programs on youth and security issues and advocate constructively and build pressure for the reform of the security and justice sectors.  The program included training in conflict-sensitive reporting, research, and dialogue facilitation from a youth perspective, as well as discussions on security challenges and solutions which were held in communities with stakeholders and community members.  The participants will now begin to produce programs in their local languages that will build a constructive role for youth in public security and justice for youth from their own districts.

The media training and subsequent radio programs are part of the program "Public Security and Justice in Nepal:  Building a Constructive Role for Youth", which is being implemented in Bara, Sunsari, and Dang.
