Media Concluded

Media Empowerment for Democratic Information Access (MEDIA), a two year long communication initiative implemented by Equal Access Nepal concluded in October 2012. The MEDIA Initiative has played an effective role to strengthen the capacity of the independent media in Nepal. By introducing innovative interventions, the project worked towards the objectives of strengthening the capacity of independent media in Nepal's emerging democracy through: innovative applications to increase the variety reported content; the observation of trends in national media outlets; public education on the role of independent media; legal support; training for  journalists working in conflict-affected environments;  and addressing  journalistic standards, media ownership reforms, job tenure, safety and gender/race/caste discrimination and journalists remuneration among Media mangers.
