Early Childhood Development (ECD) and Education

E-mail Print PDF

Early Childhood Development and Inclusive Primary Education has been a topic in Nepali society for only just over a decade, but the Millennium Development Goals, which include a target of university access to primary education, have prompted a series of changes to Nepal’s educational system.  The government has planned to establish 45,000 Early Childhood Development centers all around Nepal and to day, have completed 30,000 centers.

Since 2004, to aid the goal of universal quality primary education and promote knowledge of early childhood development, Equal Access Nepal’s programs encourages parents, Early Childhood Center facilitators, and teachers and other educational professionals how to support the emotional, social, mental, and physical development of Nepal’s children, even when they lack basic facilities.

Equal Access is the only communication organization working in Early Childhood Education, and we consider ECD to be a vital wing of the educational format.  Therefore, we regularly translate learning modules and other programs into local languages and train local radio stations to enhance their capacity to produce ECD programs.
