In Nepal, millions of women and girls live in abject poverty and suffer daily attacks against their basic human rights, simply because they are women. Gender inequality is deeply rooted and women and girls may endure forced marriage, domestic violence, trafficking into the sex-trade against their will, or denied access to education, health services and the right to fully participate in their communities and societies.
Every day, women and girls who participate in our programs claim their inherent power and dignity and transform their lives.
For the millions of women who listen to Equal Access Nepal’s programs on gender, women’s and girls’ empowerment, Violence against Women, Human Rights, safe motherhood, and HIV, listening to a trusted voice and participating in a discussion group or leadership training provides a safe space to learn about their options, think critically about their own lives, realize that a different world is possible, and achieve the change they envision.
